If you drive in Florida and want to pump up the volume of your car stereo, you certainly can do so, but understand the penalties you could face will be more than what you bargained for--way more.
Currently in the books is a law that forbids drivers from cranking up their car stereos so loud that it can be heard from 25 feet away or more, that is "louder than necessary for the convenient hearing by persons inside the vehicle."
Florida State Representative Alan Hays thinks that folks are ignoring this law because it simply is not tough enough. Hays, who is from the northern Orlando burbs, feels that the laws should be stricter surrounding this issue.
With House Bill 137, introduced last month, Hays is looking to kick up the laws a notch and make the penalty for rockin' your jams while driving a moving violation, which would result in three license points and a $180 fine for a third offense.
Quite a few Florida municipalities are of the same mind. They have written their own civil ordinances, including a 60-day jail term, $500 fine and thousands of dollars in impound fees. If Hays gets his way and HB 137 passes, the addition of points would be added to these already zero-tolerance laws.

All this will cause is MORE African American men and women to either 1. Get pulled over for even suspecting that they have a nice system in their vehicle. 2. More in jail.
Most people turn their music down when they notice a nice quiet neighborhood. I only hear beats when driving on the highways and very busy city streets.

Here's why america is so screwed up. We spend so much time, effort, and money to fight nonsence like this while we should be fixing healthcare and the economy. These lawmakers waste so much time on Bulls**t. Peoples normal talking voice can be heard from 25' so of course your stereo is going to be. Cmon people, these are lawmakers putting their opionions and beliefs on others and tryin to make a dollar off it. I'm tired of these useless ass people.

Come on Dre and Rob, you guys know that your reasons for not supporting this law are silly. I shouldn't have to listen to your music when you drive by, its for your pleasure not mine. If brothers can't respect people around them then they should get summonsed. Laws like this are stupid Rob, but they wouldn't be necessary if people respected others and got off the attitude that they can do anything they want and the hell with everyone else. P.S. I am sure that highways are not included in this bill.

Youth...you have a right to your opinion and it doesn't irk me, why should mine irk you? Oh, I get it, to hell with anyone else, its about you right?
If you pay for your music, play it...fine...but why do i have to listen to it? I don't force you to listen to mine. Regarding the politicians, they do what they do...passing a law like this has nothing to do with them not passing other laws. government would not step in to control things if people would control themselves. Peace.

FYI Blacks aren't the only ones that enjoy loud music in their car. I know plenty of WHITE people who also enjoy this!
