Maria Shriver Commits Another Traffic No-No

Maria ShriverShould the First Lady of California, Maria Shriver, sign up for a refresher course on what NOT to do when driving around what-should-be familiar stompin' grounds? Well, folks, she's at it yet again! Shriver was caught red-handed on video parking in a red zone on Monday.

If memory serves me correctly (and it always does), the first lady profusely apologized only two weeks ago for violating her hubby Governor Arnold Scharzenegger's hands-free cell phone use law. Those determined TMZers (God bless their lil' cameras), posted a video of Shriver walking back to her Cadillac Escalade, which was parked where? IN A RED ZONE! The red zones in California are typically reserved for emergency use–only vehicles. The fine for parking in these designated areas can cost as much as $60.

Some government officials in California are issued placards that they are supposed to visibly place on their dash but only when they are in fact conducting official business. According to the TMZ video, there was no placard on Shriver's "'Sclade," so Shriver was not on government business when she parked her vehicle illegally. According to published reports, she was actually returning from a doctor's office visit in Santa Monica.

One good thing has come from this serial traffic breaker's drama: Shriver is video taped getting in to her hefty SUV while chatting away on her celly; however, once she settled in to her behemoth ride, Shriver ended her conversation before driving away.

"I regret that I made a mistake. I take responsibility for it," Shriver said in a statement issued through her office.

Until the First Lady of Cali's next traffix faux pas...stay tuned.
